A Few Days of Being Home

Image
May 14, 2025  Our first two days after being home in Ocean Falls were sunny.   We enjoyed our quiet time together as a family doing things together outside around the house.   The lawn got mowed, weed whacking was done, the lawn got raked, garden beds all got weeded, potatoes and onions planted, raspberries trimmed and tied up, and lots of other fun chores.   We were in our own peaceful corner of the world and did not see another person for several days.   It was the first time in a very long time that we had been so removed from people, and it was quite nice.   When the Ocean Falls rain returned we finished getting all of our boxes unpacked and our house reorganized.   With being back in Ocean Falls, after being gone for over 8 months, it is so amazing to see how much Falcon has changed.   We can so clearly remember how he was in specific situations before we left last September, and so it is incredibly obvious how much he has grown up.   He...

Back to Ocean Falls

May 21, 2025  After two weeks spent visiting family, and many shopping trips to stock up on groceries and other items that are more challenging and expensive to get delivered to Ocean Falls, it was time to load up our truck and head back to Ocean Falls.   On Saturday morning, May 10 th , at around 06:30 we left my parents' place in Victoria and drove all the way up the island to Port Hardy.   Then, at around 17:30 we drove onto the ferry and went upstairs to pick our seats.   After the ferry left dock, we went to the cafeteria where we reheated our delicious lasagne dinner with homemade French bread and garlic butter.   It was a delicious meal, and we had a beautiful window view looking out at the passing islands as we made our way northward.   After dinner we inflated our air mattress and tried to get some sleep, but because they had not yet turned the lights down, and of course the environment was totally different, Falcon was wired right up and not ready...

Onward to Puerto Vallarta and Canada

April 21, 2025  On the morning of April 21st we wrapped up all of the last minute things that had to be done on the Red Witch, and then travelled by taxi to our air bnb in Puerto Vallarta.   We had found a personal driver who took us the 4.5 hour drive for a good price.   He also spoke some English, and was very knowledgeable about the area.   We learned a lot from him about farming in the area, where their fresh water came from, and what life was like in the area.   He was also quite happy to make stops for us to show us things, but because we didn’t want the trip to turn into too long of a drive, we only stopped twice.   Once was at a crocodile lagoon viewpoint, which Falcon enjoyed.   Falcon did very well on the drive, and although we wound our way through the hills and farmlands he showed no signs of feeling unwell.   We spent three nights in Puerto Vallarta before our flight back to Canada.   We went for a long walk along the beach and s...
