The Great Planetary Alignment

We went out in our tender to get the best view of the sunset on the best viewing night of the great planetary alignment. 

In theory, with a telescope one could have seen all seven planets in the sky at one time, which apparently is a very rare occurrence.  We sat and watched the sun set and ate cookies that Falcon and I had made, watching to see which planets we could see.  We managed to see the slightest sliver of the 0% waxing moon as it followed the sun over the horizon.  Then we could see Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Mars all in an arching line just up from where the sun had set. 
Falcon also had fun playing with our dive flashlight and shining it into the water saying that he was going night diving.  It was quite neat and Falcon still talks about it. 
We have also been out snorkelling. 
Falcon wore his water wings and swam along with us as best he could, and I pulled him along when he didn’t keep up. 
Many years ago, a tradition started here at Tenacatita that boats that anchored in the bay would make a sign with their boat's name on it, and put it up at the palapa of the beach restaurant.  We decided to make one to add to the display.  Jason found a raw-edge piece of milled wood on the beach, and sanded it down.  Then we covered the whole board in sand and used a paintbrush to brush away the necessary sand to be able to form the letters for "Red Witch". 
We then used a torch to burn the letters, with the sand protecting the wood that was still covered.  When finished, we oiled the whole board and then mounted it. 
We were happy with how it turned out, simple, but nice.

    The Red Witch is goes into the history of the little town...along with her crew. Such beautiful memories. Do they have the country as well as the name of the anchorage on the signs? That would be cool to see where everyone is from.

September 26,  2024 It has been way too long since I have written an update for the blog.   Sorry about that.   Falcon is almost 22 months old, and computer work is a challenging thing to get done with him always wanting to be involved in what I am doing, so needless to say, blog writing has taken a back burner.     Many of you will already know much of what we have been up to over the past year and a bit, but some of you may not, and I thought that either way I would write up some quick summary notes and post some pictures.  Most of the pictures are of Falcon, as he is the love of our lives.    Lucky for us, given that we live in Ocean Falls where it rains a lot, Falcon enjoys being out in the rain.       And he really enjoys climbing into and onto things, perhaps just to see if he can fit.  And, because of his love of climbing, we built him a climbing wall, on which he has gotten quite proficient. A Fantastic Birthday

September 9th (Wednesday) Our first day off after our 8-day shift, and it was also my birthday.  I enjoyed what felt like a nice long sleep-in as compared to getting up at 05:45 for work, and then Jason gave me my birthday presents and made me a delicious brunch of blueberry pancakes, bacon, and sausages.  Then we were off to the lake.  It was a beautiful, sunny day and glassy calm as we planed our way along the lake.  We went down to the south end to check it out and explore, as we had never been down to that end before.   As the sun got hotter we wanted to enjoy it, and to go swimming, so we headed to our perfect picnic and swimming area of Triple Falls.  There we enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of relaxing and swimming.  The water felt quite a bit cooler than it had the last time that we were there, so our refreshing swims were brief. First Things First

November 25, 2024  Our first priority in La Paz was to order our new solar panels.   We had priced them out and sourced them at different locations before getting here, but we were unable to pre-order them before going into the store to pay for them.   Once they were ordered we focused on other things on our to do list, which included getting Falcon to the beachside playground.   He did so well on the slides, and got to go on a "big kid" swing for the first time, and he loves to swing.   We also went for several walks around areas that we knew from the last time that we were here.   One of these included a walk past the Airbnb where Falcon was born.   Almost everyday we visited the El Magote beach, which we knew so well from many long walks previously.
