Sunny Days in La Paz

Our solar panels were delayed arriving, but when we did receive them we went straight to work taking down our old ones and setting up the new mounting tracks and panels.  

 

It all went very smoothly and after a day we were charging at 40-50 amps when needed.  

 

Our new solar panels had no problems with getting our batteries up to full charge each day.

A Canada Day Weekend Day on Link Lake

July 2, 2022 Our next taste of summer came right around Canada Day, and once again we took one day off from our projects to truly enjoy the day.   This time we headed out onto Link Lake.   It was the first time that we had been up on the lake this year.   We went out with our friends, Ken and Shelly, and also a bunch of other friends.   We loaded up Ken’s landing skiff with kayaks and people, and then we also took Ken’s lake boat with the rest of the people.   Jason was appointed Captain of Ken’s lake boat and since our three other passengers had never been out on the lake before, we took them from spectacular viewpoints to stunning waterfalls and told them what history we knew of the lake.   It was a stunning day with not a cloud in the sky.   The waterfalls were rushing from snowmelt and previous rainfall, and the day was warm and gorgeous.   We took the boats and the kayaks right up to the large sandbar at the end of the l...

The Sandbar on Link Lake

August 13, 2021  At the far end of Link Lake, and at the mouth of the Braden River, is a massive sandbar.  We spent some time there one hot sunny day, and when we walked away from the water’s edge and in through the small shrubby trees it was amazing the amount of heat that was radiating off of the sand.  It was a beautiful sandbar and we explored the whole thing, finding deer tracks and baby frogs.  The fishing was good off of the bank out into the river, but the water was a little too cold to make us want to swim, even though the sun was hot. So, we headed to a better swimming spot.  There was a beach across the lake and a bit further up than Triple Falls, and that was where we spent most of our swimming and beach time. It had a steep drop off for swimming, but it also had a large sandy area for relaxing and small enough rocks to walk around barefoot. House Purchase

October 1, 2021 October 1st was the closing date for our house purchase, and we officially became homeowners.  We had been looking at buying a house in Ocean Falls since the spring, and we had looked at six different homes, but there was really only one of them that interested us because of its location and condition. The previous owners had moved away three years ago due to old age and medical issues, and they were looking to sell their place. They contacted us, and made us a sell offer.  We were in touch with them through the spring and summer, and when we accepted their offer it turned out that they were not quite ready to sell, as they wanted to make one last trip “home” with the plan to collect some of their possessions. In August, they made the trip in and showed us, in a detailed way, around the home and property telling us stories about their 30 years of living in Ocean Falls.
