Sunny Days in La Paz

Our solar panels were delayed arriving, but when we did receive them we went straight to work taking down our old ones and setting up the new mounting tracks and panels.  

 

It all went very smoothly and after a day we were charging at 40-50 amps when needed.  

 

Our new solar panels had no problems with getting our batteries up to full charge each day.

July 13th (Saturday)  It was a beautiful day! We still had dramatic skies and many dark clouds passed over that looked like they might bring rain, but none of them did. When the sun shone through in between the clouds it was brilliantly warm!  We spent the first part of the morning doing little projects around the boat.  I am learning how to make nets and enjoying it. It is fun because I am making nets for securing things, and having new storage areas while we are at sea. It is also an easy thing to do in the cockpit while enjoying the beauty around us. Chanterelles and Canned Salmon

August 23rd (Friday) Although it did get windy last night, we were anchored in a good spot and did not get anywhere near the full winds of the forecasted 40 knots. We all slept well.  We had a relaxing rainy morning with the fire going, sorting pictures and reading.  We had a delicious early lunch of caviar on toast. Yummy! After lunch we all hiked to the lake where Jason had been yesterday afternoon and had seen lots of mushrooms that he thought were Chanterelles. He had since done a lot of reading in our Audubon mushroom book, and we took it with us to accurately identify them. J and I spent a while looking at the many mushrooms and reading the book, and came to the confidant conclusion that one type of them were indeed Chanterelles.  Yay. They were growing in the sand up at the edge of the bank under the deciduous trees and there were a whole bunch of them.  We picked a good-sized bag and washed off the sand and dirt in...

A Canada Day Weekend Day on Link Lake

July 2, 2022 Our next taste of summer came right around Canada Day, and once again we took one day off from our projects to truly enjoy the day.   This time we headed out onto Link Lake.   It was the first time that we had been up on the lake this year.   We went out with our friends, Ken and Shelly, and also a bunch of other friends.   We loaded up Ken’s landing skiff with kayaks and people, and then we also took Ken’s lake boat with the rest of the people.   Jason was appointed Captain of Ken’s lake boat and since our three other passengers had never been out on the lake before, we took them from spectacular viewpoints to stunning waterfalls and told them what history we knew of the lake.   It was a stunning day with not a cloud in the sky.   The waterfalls were rushing from snowmelt and previous rainfall, and the day was warm and gorgeous.   We took the boats and the kayaks right up to the large sandbar at the end of the l...
