A Perfect Birthday Getaway

On Tuesday, September 7th, we got off from work and got ready to head out on the boat for my birthday week. On Wednesday morning we headed out and rode the flooding tide up the Dean Channel to one of our favourite anchorages, Eucott Hot Springs. 

It was the perfect place to spend a forecasted rainy week for my birthday. It was on September 11th two years ago that we arrived in Eucott Bay for the first time, and we ended up spending the rest of the month of September there enjoying the hot springs, the beauty of the area, exploring the forests, and picking Chanterelle mushrooms. It was amazing to be back. 

My birthday was perfect, the morning started with a cup of tea in my pajamas in our cockpit, followed by opening presents. 

My parents had mailed up a box of presents for me to open, so I had lots to enjoy opening along with the presents from Jason. 

After opening presents Jason made us a delicious breakfast, which was followed by a trip to the hot springs where we enjoyed the beauty of our surroundings, which we had all to ourselves at that point. 

 Once we were thoroughly heated through and relaxed we went for a kayak paddle around the anchorage.


 

We paddled up the river on the high tide, and then went into the forest to look for our Chanterelle mushroom patch.

It was right where we remembered it being two years ago, under the big rock, and we picked a beautiful bag of fresh mushrooms to have with dinner. 

Jason made us a delicious dinner of pasta, buns, and Chanterelle mushrooms. 


 
For dessert Jason had ordered me in an ice-cream cake, and it was quite the luxury to have an ice cream cake, at anchor, in Eucott Bay near the hot springs. It was a perfect birthday getaway.

    I loved Eucott Hot Springs. Isn't there another hot springs called Nascall in the same area or close to? One of them had the best crabbing I have ever seen. We had so many, we canned them. Happy Belated Birthday Sheya. Looks like it was a good week.

A Fantastic Birthday

September 9th (Wednesday) Our first day off after our 8-day shift, and it was also my birthday.  I enjoyed what felt like a nice long sleep-in as compared to getting up at 05:45 for work, and then Jason gave me my birthday presents and made me a delicious brunch of blueberry pancakes, bacon, and sausages.  Then we were off to the lake.  It was a beautiful, sunny day and glassy calm as we planed our way along the lake.  We went down to the south end to check it out and explore, as we had never been down to that end before.   As the sun got hotter we wanted to enjoy it, and to go swimming, so we headed to our perfect picnic and swimming area of Triple Falls.  There we enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of relaxing and swimming.  The water felt quite a bit cooler than it had the last time that we were there, so our refreshing swims were brief. First Things First

November 25, 2024  Our first priority in La Paz was to order our new solar panels.   We had priced them out and sourced them at different locations before getting here, but we were unable to pre-order them before going into the store to pay for them.   Once they were ordered we focused on other things on our to do list, which included getting Falcon to the beachside playground.   He did so well on the slides, and got to go on a "big kid" swing for the first time, and he loves to swing.   We also went for several walks around areas that we knew from the last time that we were here.   One of these included a walk past the Airbnb where Falcon was born.   Almost everyday we visited the El Magote beach, which we knew so well from many long walks previously.
