A Trip to Shearwater and Prawns

November 1st (Friday)
This was the day with the lightest winds in the forecast, so we bundled up and headed to Shearwater in our tender. The trip to Shearwater and back was easy and uneventful. The winds and water remained calm, and although it was misty on our way home, it did not rain. We saw a super cute sea otter on our trip. He was lying on his back with his feet up, rocking gently in the chop. As we passed by he rolled onto his tummy to look at us, and then rolled back onto his back as we passed by.
After we got home we headed out to pull up our traps. Both of our prawn traps were the fullest we have ever had. In total we kept 94 prawns!! Yay!! We let 28 large, egg-bearing females, and 8 small prawns go. That is by far the best prawn catch we have had. 
We had a real prawn feast for dinner. To begin with we only cooked up 60 of them, but then we cooked up the rest and finished them off. They were delicious, and although very satisfying they were not particularly filling, as we never did feel stuffed in the slightest. Delicious!

September 26,  2024 It has been way too long since I have written an update for the blog.   Sorry about that.   Falcon is almost 22 months old, and computer work is a challenging thing to get done with him always wanting to be involved in what I am doing, so needless to say, blog writing has taken a back burner.     Many of you will already know much of what we have been up to over the past year and a bit, but some of you may not, and I thought that either way I would write up some quick summary notes and post some pictures.  Most of the pictures are of Falcon, as he is the love of our lives.    Lucky for us, given that we live in Ocean Falls where it rains a lot, Falcon enjoys being out in the rain.       And he really enjoys climbing into and onto things, perhaps just to see if he can fit.  And, because of his love of climbing, we built him a climbing wall, on which he has gotten quite proficient. A Fantastic Birthday

September 9th (Wednesday) Our first day off after our 8-day shift, and it was also my birthday.  I enjoyed what felt like a nice long sleep-in as compared to getting up at 05:45 for work, and then Jason gave me my birthday presents and made me a delicious brunch of blueberry pancakes, bacon, and sausages.  Then we were off to the lake.  It was a beautiful, sunny day and glassy calm as we planed our way along the lake.  We went down to the south end to check it out and explore, as we had never been down to that end before.   As the sun got hotter we wanted to enjoy it, and to go swimming, so we headed to our perfect picnic and swimming area of Triple Falls.  There we enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of relaxing and swimming.  The water felt quite a bit cooler than it had the last time that we were there, so our refreshing swims were brief. First Things First

November 25, 2024  Our first priority in La Paz was to order our new solar panels.   We had priced them out and sourced them at different locations before getting here, but we were unable to pre-order them before going into the store to pay for them.   Once they were ordered we focused on other things on our to do list, which included getting Falcon to the beachside playground.   He did so well on the slides, and got to go on a "big kid" swing for the first time, and he loves to swing.   We also went for several walks around areas that we knew from the last time that we were here.   One of these included a walk past the Airbnb where Falcon was born.   Almost everyday we visited the El Magote beach, which we knew so well from many long walks previously.
