2019-04-29 Just Before We Leave
Hey Guys,
Well this is it! It is almost time. We will be leaving tomorrow, Tuesday April 30, 2019 Yay!!
There is one thing that I think is super cool about living on a boat that I thought I would share with you before we head out. It has to do with flushing the toilet at night. Our toilet system uses salt water sucked up from the ocean to flush our toilet, and sometimes when you flush the toilet at night you get lucky and you suck up phosphorescence, and the toilet bowl will glow green! It is so cool!! Some nights there won't be any, other nights there will be a couple glows, and on a lucky night the toilet bowl will light right up with green glowing specs. I can't wait until we are out at sea and heading south, and we get to truly experience the spectacle of phosphorescence!
Anyway, we are pretty much ready, or at least we hopefully will be by the time I post this. We have been very busy, dealing with our storage space, stowing everything on board that we want to take with us, grocery shopping and inventorying all of our food storage areas, steam-cleaning our cushions, and all of the other little odds and ends that need to be done before we leave.
I am not sure when the next time will be that I will be able to post. We have a single-side-band radio that is set up to allow us to email, however, we are unsure how much we will be able to use it until we head south. There are no northern land stations for us to make contact with, so the further north we travel, and depending on how deep into an inlet we are, we may not be able to make contact. We will have the chance to send updates at towns along the coast, but that may be infrequent. My plan is to write updates and to save them until we can either use the internet, or get an email out to my parents. My Mom is going to post emails that I send to the blog so that everyone can stay up to date.
It is very exciting. We are about to head out on the adventure of our dreams. The dreams we have had, and talked about for so many years, are about to begin being reality. YAY!!
