Back With the Red Witch

September 30, 2024 was a big day.  After a good night's rest we headed to Marina Guaymas, and after visiting with the office staff, whom we knew from before, we got access into the dry-storage yard and got to see our girl once again; 1.5 years after we left her in 2023.
She sure was dusty, but all of the protection that we had done, tin foil wrapping, and other coverings, had lasted surprisingly well, and things looked undamaged.  Our tender had been left deflated and upside down on our deck under the old tender cover and two more UV-resistant car covers, which had sure taken a beating.  It would not have been long before the tender itself would have been exposed to the elements.
We spent the morning working on the boat, and then at 1pm the marina lift came and moved us into the work yard where we remained until we were ready to launch.  In the work yard we had access to power and water so we were able to give our boat a good wash-down, and she began to look much better. Falcon was very helpful and was happy to sit and unwrap our winches and other items from their tinfoil wrappings.
He enjoyed peeling off the layers and putting all of the pieces in the garbage bag.  He was also right in the engine room with me holding the flashlight as I topped up our batteries with distilled water.  After a full day in the humid heat we went back to the cool air-conditioning of our air bnb, and went to bed early.
Our list of things to do before we launch was long, but we felt like our first day went well, and it was nice to see our boat again.  At one point, while sitting inside with Falcon, I felt like it could have been just last week that we were here; it was good to be back on board.

  1. That feeling of a year and a half feeling like last week gets worse as you get older.🤣I think it has to do with having kids.
Glad your girl managed to weather the climate down there. Looking forward to seeing more beautiful pictures and hearing of your adventures.
