Fishing, Prawning, and Crabbing

 

Since arriving home in Ocean Falls in May of 2023 we have done quite a bit of prawning, crabbing, and fishing. 

Falcon has gotten to see a small octopus up close.

He was curious to get to touch some prawns as we took them from the traps.


Falcon liked to help with the shucking of the crab. 



And, he was often our measuring guide for how big our salmon and halibut were. 




We also often enjoyed taking a break from fishing by spending some time at one of the outer beaches.  Falcon loves to explore and throw rocks.

    Love the photos! Falcon lives in an amazing world full of creatures he can examine though touch and taste. He is a lucky boy, he has such great parents!❤️

September 26,  2024 It has been way too long since I have written an update for the blog.   Sorry about that.   Falcon is almost 22 months old, and computer work is a challenging thing to get done with him always wanting to be involved in what I am doing, so needless to say, blog writing has taken a back burner.     Many of you will already know much of what we have been up to over the past year and a bit, but some of you may not, and I thought that either way I would write up some quick summary notes and post some pictures.  Most of the pictures are of Falcon, as he is the love of our lives.    Lucky for us, given that we live in Ocean Falls where it rains a lot, Falcon enjoys being out in the rain.       And he really enjoys climbing into and onto things, perhaps just to see if he can fit.  And, because of his love of climbing, we built him a climbing wall, on which he has gotten quite proficient. A Fantastic Birthday

September 9th (Wednesday) Our first day off after our 8-day shift, and it was also my birthday.  I enjoyed what felt like a nice long sleep-in as compared to getting up at 05:45 for work, and then Jason gave me my birthday presents and made me a delicious brunch of blueberry pancakes, bacon, and sausages.  Then we were off to the lake.  It was a beautiful, sunny day and glassy calm as we planed our way along the lake.  We went down to the south end to check it out and explore, as we had never been down to that end before.   As the sun got hotter we wanted to enjoy it, and to go swimming, so we headed to our perfect picnic and swimming area of Triple Falls.  There we enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of relaxing and swimming.  The water felt quite a bit cooler than it had the last time that we were there, so our refreshing swims were brief. First Things First

November 25, 2024  Our first priority in La Paz was to order our new solar panels.   We had priced them out and sourced them at different locations before getting here, but we were unable to pre-order them before going into the store to pay for them.   Once they were ordered we focused on other things on our to do list, which included getting Falcon to the beachside playground.   He did so well on the slides, and got to go on a "big kid" swing for the first time, and he loves to swing.   We also went for several walks around areas that we knew from the last time that we were here.   One of these included a walk past the Airbnb where Falcon was born.   Almost everyday we visited the El Magote beach, which we knew so well from many long walks previously.
