Passports Arrive
February
27, 2023
On
February 24, 2023 we received an email from the Canadian Consulate in Mexico
City informing us that Falcon’s Canadian passport was being shipped. We were given a tracking number and when we
checked it, it said that the expected delivery date was Monday the 27th. Yay! Back
on February 14th we had gone to the Mexican passport office to try
to find out where in the process Falcon’s Mexican passport was. We had gone with our Mexican friend so as to
ensure that there was no confusion with the language barrier. We were told that they were still awaiting
confirmation of Falcon’s birth in La Paz from the health centre. Since it was the doctor at the heath centre
that gave us Falcon’s original proof of birth certificate and who had filed the
appropriate papers, we contacted him on WhatsApp and he told us that his office
had sent confirmation to the passport office on February 22nd.
Now, it was a week and a half later and we
still had not yet heard from the Mexican office. Since the Canadian Passport was on its way,
we decided to go and follow up once again, and our very helpful friend offered
to join us. So, on Monday morning, with
the tracking for the Canadian passport saying “out for delivery”, we met our
friend Erika at the Mexican passport office at 08:30. They seemed to remember us, and they took
Falcon’s name to the back and quickly returned to tell us that if we came back
between 1:00 and 3:00 pm we could pick up his Mexican passport. What good news!
Later
that morning the package from the Canadian Consulate was delivered, and at 13:45
Jason, Falcon, and I returned to the Mexican passport office, where, after waiting
in line, we received Falcon's Mexican passport.
What a day, two passports in one day!
Yay!! Finally, after three and a
half months of mainly being in La Paz, we were free to leave. The passports had arrived just in time as we
needed to start making our way north in the Sea of Cortez so that we could
cross over to Guaymas on the East side of the Sea (West side of mainland
Mexico). We had to be there on March 17th
to get our boat hauled out. We would
then have one week to prep her for storage on land before our flights
back to Canada on March 25th.
Our time in Mexico for the season was almost at an end.

That is great! I know you are home as Martin has showed me pictures. But am looking forward to hearing more of your adventure with Falcon.
ReplyDeleteYahoo - 2 passports in one day - who could ask for anything more. I have heard lots of good things about Guaymas. My friends Pat and Tony on board their boat Forbes and Cameron spent a lot of time there both in and out of the water (they have left there now.). Happy homecoming!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Quite the rigmarole. Glad you hear you are all doing well.
