A Variety of Pictures

(Sheya’s mom writing:  Sheya and Jason are now back at work for another two-week shift, and Sheya asked me to post these pictures that didn’t quite make it into her latest writings.)

Over the past while Sheya and Jason have had some interesting encounters with a marten.

 

The view from their new home, Ron’s house, continues to present different scenes.


 


Sawmill Mountain, which used to have a ski hill on it back in the days when Ocean Falls was a booming sawmill town, can be seen on the drive in to Ocean Falls from Martin Valley.  On the side of the mountain there is a certain location where the local residents look to see a well-known face.  Can you detect it in the following picture?  

If you are like me, you might have been able to see several different faces in the mountain, or at least parts of them, but did you see Bernard Shaw?

Bernard Shaw is in the lower portion of the yellow circle, and then there is also a partial face in the red circle (Sheya had to point these out to me).  I, on the other hand, noted a face above Bernard Shaw.  

Besides there being Salmon at the Mowi land-based fish farm where Sheya and Jason are working, there are also some Rainbow Trout in one of the large tanks.  

And, lastly, a peaceful night scene at the farm.

September 26,  2024 It has been way too long since I have written an update for the blog.   Sorry about that.   Falcon is almost 22 months old, and computer work is a challenging thing to get done with him always wanting to be involved in what I am doing, so needless to say, blog writing has taken a back burner.     Many of you will already know much of what we have been up to over the past year and a bit, but some of you may not, and I thought that either way I would write up some quick summary notes and post some pictures.  Most of the pictures are of Falcon, as he is the love of our lives.    Lucky for us, given that we live in Ocean Falls where it rains a lot, Falcon enjoys being out in the rain.       And he really enjoys climbing into and onto things, perhaps just to see if he can fit.  And, because of his love of climbing, we built him a climbing wall, on which he has gotten quite proficient. A Fantastic Birthday

September 9th (Wednesday) Our first day off after our 8-day shift, and it was also my birthday.  I enjoyed what felt like a nice long sleep-in as compared to getting up at 05:45 for work, and then Jason gave me my birthday presents and made me a delicious brunch of blueberry pancakes, bacon, and sausages.  Then we were off to the lake.  It was a beautiful, sunny day and glassy calm as we planed our way along the lake.  We went down to the south end to check it out and explore, as we had never been down to that end before.   As the sun got hotter we wanted to enjoy it, and to go swimming, so we headed to our perfect picnic and swimming area of Triple Falls.  There we enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of relaxing and swimming.  The water felt quite a bit cooler than it had the last time that we were there, so our refreshing swims were brief. First Things First

November 25, 2024  Our first priority in La Paz was to order our new solar panels.   We had priced them out and sourced them at different locations before getting here, but we were unable to pre-order them before going into the store to pay for them.   Once they were ordered we focused on other things on our to do list, which included getting Falcon to the beachside playground.   He did so well on the slides, and got to go on a "big kid" swing for the first time, and he loves to swing.   We also went for several walks around areas that we knew from the last time that we were here.   One of these included a walk past the Airbnb where Falcon was born.   Almost everyday we visited the El Magote beach, which we knew so well from many long walks previously.
