May 21, 2025 After two weeks spent visiting family, and many shopping trips to stock up on groceries and other items that are more challenging and expensive to get delivered to Ocean Falls, it was time to load up our truck and head back to Ocean Falls. On Saturday morning, May 10 th , at around 06:30 we left my parents' place in Victoria and drove all the way up the island to Port Hardy. Then, at around 17:30 we drove onto the ferry and went upstairs to pick our seats. After the ferry left dock, we went to the cafeteria where we reheated our delicious lasagne dinner with homemade French bread and garlic butter. It was a delicious meal, and we had a beautiful window view looking out at the passing islands as we made our way northward. After dinner we inflated our air mattress and tried to get some sleep, but because they had not yet turned the lights down, and of course the environment was totally different, Falcon was wired right up and not ready...
April 1, 2025 The day before our departure from Tenacatita was a sad day. We had a great morning in at the beach, which included a beach walk, time playing in the lagoon river, swimming, digging holes, surfing, and running around, all of our beach favourites. Although a part of us felt the same way, we were also looking forward to being back in our house in Canada, and I know that Falcon felt the same way as he often talks fondly about things from there and things that we will be doing when we are back there. Unfortunately, our departure will most likely be the demise of many sea animals tha...
April 16, 2025 On Wednesday morning we had a list of tasks that we were going to do while we were still in the water. With our back cabin a mess and stuff strewn around the cockpit we worked on pickling our water-maker membrane. Jason had just left to take Falcon up to the bathroom when one of the marina workers came down to measure our boat for the placement of the lifting straps. He spoke a bit of English so communication was easier with a mixture of English and Spanish. He asked how much water we needed and when I told him that we only draw 5 feet he mentioned hauling out that very morning. I said, "No", because we were in the middle of stuff and had lots more to do that would be nice to be in the water for. I asked about Thursday morning and he said that he would check t he tides. A little while later he came back and said that the tide was way too low on Thursday, and that we had to haul out now. ...
