May 21, 2025 After two weeks spent visiting family, and many shopping trips to stock up on groceries and other items that are more challenging and expensive to get delivered to Ocean Falls, it was time to load up our truck and head back to Ocean Falls. On Saturday morning, May 10 th , at around 06:30 we left my parents' place in Victoria and drove all the way up the island to Port Hardy. Then, at around 17:30 we drove onto the ferry and went upstairs to pick our seats. After the ferry left dock, we went to the cafeteria where we reheated our delicious lasagne dinner with homemade French bread and garlic butter. It was a delicious meal, and we had a beautiful window view looking out at the passing islands as we made our way northward. After dinner we inflated our air mattress and tried to get some sleep, but because they had not yet turned the lights down, and of course the environment was totally different, Falcon was wired right up and not ready...
November 25, 2024 Our first priority in La Paz was to order our new solar panels. We had priced them out and sourced them at different locations before getting here, but we were unable to pre-order them before going into the store to pay for them. Once they were ordered we focused on other things on our to do list, which included getting Falcon to the beachside playground. We also went for several walks around areas that we knew from the last time that we were here. One of these included a walk past the Airbnb where Falcon was born. Almost everyday we visited the El Magote beach, which we knew so well from many long walks previously.
April 1, 2025 The day before our departure from Tenacatita was a sad day. We had a great morning in at the beach, which included a beach walk, time playing in the lagoon river, swimming, digging holes, surfing, and running around, all of our beach favourites. During it all, however, was the awareness that it was our last day in the bay that had quite happily become our home for the last three months. That afternoon the pack-up began and Falcon was not shy about voicing his unhappiness with our planned departure. While we were packing up he repeated “no leave” and “want to come back” many times over. Although a part of us felt the same way, we were also looking forward to being back in our house in Canada, and I know that Falcon felt the same way as he often talks fondly about things from there and things that we will be doing when we are back there. Unfortunately, our departure will most likely be the demise of many sea animals tha...
