2019-04-21 Our Last Haul Out
Hey,
I thought I would mention and tell you a little about our last haul out. We hauled out at Mosquito Creek Marina in November 2018. Not an ideal time of year weather wise, but it was the time that worked for us. We had a whole list of work that we wanted to get done, and of course the list grew once we started working. My parents, my journeyman teacher, Kenny, who is also a friend, and another friend, Gabriel, all helped us out immensely. On the list of projects was: stripping the hull of all its many layers of bottom paint, priming with a two-part barrier coat, bottom painting, waxing the hull, installing new thru-hulls, installing new cockpit drains, templating for our swim grid, having welding done on our arch, and making a mounting spot on the new welding for our outboard. The biggest project that we added after hauling out was to sand, prime, and paint two red stripes on the hull. We also got new name stickers.
Due to the temperature once all of the prep work was done, we had to build a structure around the hull and run a diesel heater to maintain a good working temperature for painting. The structure also helped to keep the inevitable rain off of us, although we spent a long time chasing drips.

She is coming out.
Thank you Mom and Dad!!!
Jason getting ready to sand.
Making good progress with so many great helpers, although it was slow work with all the years of bottom paint to remove.
Thank you Kenny!!
She is all wrapped up with the diesel heater going.
Working inside the balloon of plastic was warm at least.
Thank you Gabriel and Kenny!!
The new welding on our arch, on the starboard side. It has an area for us to make a spot for our outboard motor to mount.
On the port side it has a "T" for our BBQ mount and a flag holder.
Unveiled and looking sharp.
Red Witch
You can see the new bottom paint, the new red stripes, and the welding to the arch with the outboard mounted, and flag in place.
Going back in the water and looking good!
Very very happy to be back at our slip!!
